Just about to purchase a macbook pro 17 inc. using pc just now
I am new here and just left PC for Mac which is wonderful.

My need is to have IPA on Word for translations that I often do. I've read somewhere that this type of fonts is not compatible with Mac OS. Can someone advise on this? And, if possible, I'd like to know where I can download it.
Mani thanks in advance.

Moved to correct forum.

Not sure what you mean by IPA fonts... would you be more descriptive?

MS word is fussy about fonts. It installs its own fonts in a separate folder that is a sub folder of the normal fonts folder found in OS X. And unless the fonts are registered in the MS folder, they will not be seen or used by Word. What you can do is manually install the IPA fonts to the MS font folder and register them with the "font book.app" which is included with OS X.

Sometimes that will work well, but more often than not, the fonts will not display correctly. It's trial and error.

IPA stands for International Phonetic Alphabet, I can see that this may be problematic, however, many thanks for your kind answer.
