macbook pro 13" usb ports disconnecting randomly

on my macbook when i use the usb ports when ever i knock the the cable it will disconnect the device. i have tested it on my 2.5" external HDD powered through both ports and my ipod touch and my flash drive

2017 27" iMac, 10.5" iPad Pro, iPhone 8, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, Numerous iPods, Monterey
Replace the USB cable. If it continues to happen with a new cable, post back.
