I have a late 2008 Mac Pro, and I am trying to do maintenance on it with Disk Warrior. I want to boot from the DVD to do so but it will not let me. I tried multiple versions of Disk Warrior including the most recent one 4.2.

With Disk Warrior 4.1 or 4.1.1 nothing happens when I try to boot from the CD.

With 4.2 when I try to boot from the disk it will just hang up and the apple logo turns into a circle with a cross through it which I'm guessing means booting from the disk is not going to happen.

If anyone has any idea as to why I would be having this problem please let me know.

You're going to need to contact Alsoft and inquire. Your Mac Pro should be able to boot from the DW DVD. The newer Mac Pro and i3, i5, and i7 machines can not be booted from the DVD according to Alsoft.

No, you should be able to boot from the DVD. The bootable DVD is included for a reason. When the machine has problems (hard drive) and can not boot normally, that's when the boot DVD should be used.

As I advised above, you need to contact Alsoft support. Their web site also contains info regarding use.
