Posted in "Hardware - Apple Notebooks" forum, as it's for my MacBook, but rules state external HD issues to post here, so did in case I've done wrong.

Have Black MacBook (Model 3, 1) w/specs:

Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Firewire: 400
Hard Drive: Capacity = 148.73 GB Available = 108.74 GB

Is LaCie 320GB Rugged All Terrain external HD w/7200 (vs. 5400) RPM suitable for my MacBook model & if so, will it significantly increase transfer speed?

I appreciate & thank you in advance for any assistance you all can provide.

Best Regards,

Your Mac's Specs
MBP/2.53GHz i5/4GB RAM/500GB HDD/15" LED Screen/Intel HD Graphics & NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
That HDD is an external one and so won't fit into your MacBook.

If you can afford to buy a 7,2000rpm drive I'd recommend it if you are using large files and needing real-time updating e.g. video editing.
