• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hello, does anyone know if the new iLive '11 iMovie app will handle 1080p? I was watching the clip on yesterdays event and the demo trailer made possibly teased this by being called "Highdef pictures" or something.

But I was wondering if I could edit the films coming from my 5DII.

You can export it in 1920x1080p resolution, so I assume it can also handle 1080p movies.
Other than what you can find on the Apple site, you know as much as we do till it is available for purchase.

Your World Premiere
iMovie ’11 lets you publish your movies in more ways to more places. You can export movies to iTunes and watch them on your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Apple TV. Share them with your friends on Facebook. Premiere them with a YouTube or Vimeo audience. Publish newsworthy content to CNN iReport. And you can create a video podcast in iMovie and send it directly to Apple Podcast Producer. When you export HD video at full 1920-by-1080p resolution, whatever you share will stun everyone.

Thanks McYukon, I certainly hope it is available from today as I plan to buy my new iMac 27 tonight. Finally doing the big switch and rather excited and nervous at the same time. It would be a shame if I buy the new iMac and it comes still with iLife 09 and have to pay for an upgrade.

Best way to find out is by going to an Apple store (If you have one) and ask the geniuses.
I know that some geniuses get trained on new apple software that comes out, so you might get a certain answer there.

Even if your Mac does ship with 09 you can if you qualify update to 11 for a mere 6.99$ US
Qualifying purchases between October 1 and October 19, 2010 and, Qualifying purchases on or after October 20, 2010
