• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Ok so I have an Apple TV 160 GB, and I want to try to record on it.

So here is what i'm thinking.

Xbox 360 component to apple tv > HDMI output from apple tv to tv > usb to macbok could I record my gameplay on it?

Thanks.

I don't doubt Xbox 360 recordings have been mentioned here and elsewhere. The Apple TV doesn't record.

Xbox to intermediate box (some do HD but most don't) to Macbook.

tv > usb

I suggest you open up the owners manual of the tv in question and read about the capabilities of the usb port it has.

Highly unlikely. I an unaware of a single TV USB port that will output a video signal.

And next time, you might try naming your thread appropriately - do you know how many of these "Help!!" threads we get here?
Folks are not always so inclined to read them after awhile.
