Are you suggesting that you wish to run both monitors at the same time? Not really possible with a splitter as the signal will be degraded. You can however use a switch to select between monitors but only one would be on at a time.

If you had a Mac Pro that had a dual output video card, then yes it would be possible to run both of your monitors at the same time. You may also be able to do it with your MBP if you had this. Or, here's a large list. LINK

I have two external monitors connected to my 2008 MacBook Pro running 10.6. 4. The 24" Samsung is connected directly to the MacBook Pro and a 19" monitor is connected through the OwC USB adapter. ATPM 15.08 - Review: OWC USB 2.0 Display Adapter

The device works fine whether connected through the computer's USB port or a powered hub. The limitations are that it does not support applications that require Open GL (check the review for exactly what happens). I have also found that once in a while the system will lock up if it goes completely to sleep. There are other similar devices out there. Not sure if they have the same limitations.
