I keep finding an "AOL Temp" file in my trash bin as a "recovered file".

What is this and why does it keep showing up in the trash....that's where anything AOL belongs..but why is it there?

No, I don't. Thats why I dont' understand why it keeps showing up. I've run a spotlight on AOL and can't find anything to remove.

The only thing I don't like about AOL is "

1. They are too freeking expensive for a dial up provider.

2. They imply that they have features that justify their high price when actually they don't deliver much more than any other usual service provider.

Anyway...that doesn't solve my problem....what's up with this stupid file that keeps showing up....whether you like that silly overpriced service or not...why is it on my computer?

Couldn't find anything, sorry...

Check the permissions on that file? Who owns it?

Are you logged in as admin? Is it set as an item in the 'All users' folder?

Sorry I did not mean to digress just the thread with iLeftovercrack's comment on aol turned anti aol and I wanted to defend it a little. I reall have never heard of this problem before, esspecially since you do not use the aol software and you can not find it in a spot light search. So honestly I am baffled by your problem and I think you should check with other users of the computer (if there are) to see what they are doing on your system.

Same Problem

I am having similar problems; each time, upon restart, there is an "AOLtemp.html" file in a "Recovered Files" folder in the trash.

I'm having very little luck finding out anything regarding this on the usual Mac sites.

I'd just let to add, I do not, or have not, had AOL installed on this computer, the only thing related to AOL is "AIM" which is part of iChat.

I can think of nothing else that might generate this type of file.

cheers,
ACI_MAN

It appears to be something to do with some website I'm visiting but I don't know which one. It's almost like cookie or something. It's still showing up.

I've gotten that file come up as well. I have no idea what's causing it though.

I've also had this happen, but I simply emptied the trash and it was gone. I also regularly use Onyx, maybe give that a try?

If you take it out of the trash and open it with Safari what does it display?
