I'm getting the spinning beach ball every time I try to open a certain folder in Finder. It's my Movies folder and it has a lot of drive space in it.

I've had to do a hard restart a couple times now because of this and looking in Activity Monitor, Finder is using 99% CPU .
My MBP is also heating up a lot more and the fans are revved up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried Spin Control? It's in Developer/Applications/Performance Tools

I wonder if this would help you find the reason for the Finder's behaviour.

That's only going to help if you have the developer tools installed which most people do not.

To the OP: is it only with the one folder that this happens? How much content do you have in that folder (size and number of items)?

Yes, it is only in my Movies folder which has about 120 GB's of videos.
Sorry for the delay, I thought the issue was resolved, however now the dock is also taking up 99% CPU.
