• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Using iMovie HD on my new Macbook Pro

So I just purchased a new pro about a month ago and while I'm very excited to have it I have to say that one of the primary reasons I purchased it was for iMovie. So bottom line is I really really don't like the new version. I much more preferred the 2006 HD version. I've been able to download the older version on my computer but I seem to be having problems with it such as freezing, taking a long time to function, and messing up the video clips. I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems or is also unhappy with the new iMovie and could offer some advice

thanks

You didn't say which version number you have installed.

I have iMovie HD 6.0.4 running on my first generation MBP which is a 32-bit machine running OS X 10.6.4. The only issue I've see is missing FX stuff, but that may be something I've done over time. It isn't like I use it much though.

Keep in mind that iMovie is non supported software. I wouldn't spend much time trying to get it to work if you are having problems. Either take some time to get used to the new one, of get an alternative.
