Hello!

I have a client I am working with that has requested custom templates for Word, and I have to write instructions on certain elements. I have created a custom chart template (.ctrx file) that has the client's requested colors and look. I am able to easily use it in Word 2007 on the PC. The client primarily works with Macs, though. I am not at all familiar with Macs, but a co-worker brought her MacBook in for me to test things on. I transferred the chart template file over to the Mac, even found where the "Chart Templates" folder is located within Finder, and copied my file to the folder. However, unlike the PC version, I am not able to simply "insert" my own chart template. I tried Insert > Chart like on the PC, but there is not a "Templates" option available in the "ribbon" that pops up.

Does anyone know if there's a way to insert custom chart templates, or is this option not available for Mac?

Thanks!

Templates from the Windows version of Word (2007) are compatible and should work just fine with Mac Word 2008. I do it all the time. As a matter of fact I'm even able to transfer templates from Word 2010 to Mac Word 2008.

Where did you put the new chart template? User templates should be placed here:

Thanks for the reply! I have no problem with using regular templates in Word between the PC and Mac. It's just the chart template that won't work. I have tried putting it in both the folder you mentioned, and in the Chart Templates folder. The problem is, when I go to Insert > Chart, there is NOT an option for me to insert my own chart template like on the PC.

Hi:

I see what you mean. I just tried the same thing and custom charts are not showing up. I also did a search through the various MS Office folders that are scattered about. It seems there are other locations that contain templates besides those of the User.

This one has me stumped as well. What I suggest is to ask the same question to one of the MS certified Mac Office specialists that hang out in the Office Mac forums. Here is the LINK. Great bunch of guys and gals hang out there. I've received help myself from them.

Let us know how it went.
