Hi,

Got a Macbook Pro last sunday, all the times ive used it its been fairly cool.
Until playing Sims 3 today it got pretty hot and the fan/vent under the screen hinge started blowing, obviously thats normal.

But, is it normal for it to get quite hot, and will the heat do any damage to the hardware like over heating or anything?

I was literally only playing it for 25/30 mins.

Thx,

Completely normal. Many games played on a Macbook or Macbook Pro will make the computer run very warm/hot compared to laptop temps when you're just checking e-mail or surfing the internet. It will also get hot if you're looking at You Tube videos as well.

Your Mac's Specs
13.3" MacBook Pro - 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB Ram - 500 GB HDD
Also, running your MacBook Pro while plugged into the charger can make it run hotter than using your notebook with it not plugged in. Usually the heat is located in the general area where your MagSafe adapter connects. But yes, this is completely normal.
