I'm a macbook user and i like to watch HD movies and tv series so i bought a mini dvi to hdmi in the apple store.

I think that cable will do the work.

Im trying to find the link to the apple store for you to directly buy it if you want.

Greetings

Tell you what, if the op buys that cable and it will fit in the video port on a C2D 2.26Ghz 13" MBP, I'll give you $50. If it won't, you give me $50.

How about it?

Edit: Also, whichever one of us pays the other, pays the op back for the cable.

That'll get you to HDMI if you already have a HDMI cable you want to use. If not, you might want to check out the all-in-one adapter/cable at monoprice.

I think you can forgive me for not reading BMWe24 MAC specs, i did not realize that he/she got a Macbook Pro, obviously the cable i recommend is NOT for Pro only for Mackbook with mini dvi port ;).

Also i'm glad not to have accepted the bet for 50$ i would have lost lol.

6string:

If you want audio over HDMI, that cable is not what you're looking for. It does not pass the audio.

You'll need one of the 4 adapters listed in the sticky (post #4) and a HDMI cable. If you're going to run the audio separately via optical to a receiver, then you could still use that cable.

Yeah, it's pretty important to know what equipment someone else has when recommending buying options. But, it's ok. I've been known to make some pretty big gaffs around here myself. ;)

bugger.....I was hoping that this was going to save me from the adapter :( I have my collection of old adapters that I don't use. DP, DVI, etc anymore.
I guess I'll have to get the mini display adapter from Apple after all :)

And at this point in time, think I'd probably get one of the $30 adapters myself instead of trying the $10 one at Amazon. There's been so much confusion with all the generic adapters, it's ridiculous. Even at the Amazon store I have listed in that post, they have now had at least 3 adapters by different manufacturers and no way to know for sure which one of them carries audio.

There also appears to be a lot of trouble getting the audio to work (and/or work consistently) out there.

Thems the breaks.... I'll just add them to the collection of phone chargers and hands free headsets that I have, and hold a garage sale one day :)
