iPhone earphone volume control in OSX

Can you use the iphone's earphone's with volume controls to control the volume in OSX by any way? I can easily press the volume buttons on the keyboard but it would be a nice addition to be able to use the earphones.

Yes, you definitely can. I remember reading about it from an Apple announcement, and, to make sure, I just now tested it out with my boyfriend's iPhone 4 earphones, and it works great. =)

It doesn't work for me...

It doesn't matter anyway.

I'm also getting new earphones. Hopefully better quality ones. I agree that the standard earphones aren't great quality. No wonder since the earphones don't even point down the ear canal. They hook onto the very bottom of the ears.
