i have an imac intel core duo 24". it recently had leopard 10.5.8 installed on it . started giving me problems with a certain program, so i took a snow leopard installation disk that my mother had that came with the newer imac and went to disk utiliity and erased w/o backing up, because i figured i didnt need to cuz my important audio files and folders were saved on external. so when i formatted this drive, now i cant install the snow because it says mac osx cant be installed on this computer!?????????????????ugggggg! gives me an option to restore from backup or restart. help please:Angry::*:'(

You need to use either a retail disc or the one that came with your machine. In other words, install discs that came with a machine will only work on that machine. You'll need to purchase a retail copy of Snow Leopard.

As well, you shouldn't be borrowing copies of software from other individuals.

CLEARLY NOT a "I'm gonna kill myself" issue!;)

You need to purchase a Snow Leopard install DVD from the Apple Store.

Fixed your thread title. Please use a descriptive title going forward. Telling people "I'm going to kill myself because of installation problems" is just a little... well, let's call it "melodramatic" at best.

Or even over the top? The $29 Snow Leopard purchase will be the best investment you will make this year.
