Hi

Can you format an external hdd to fat32 using disc utility or is it only fat16 that is possible?

If its not possible is there a piece of software out there that can achieve this?

FAT16 is not possible. FAT32 is what you get when you select MS-DOS (FAT).

Well, I could be wrong - yet again... What else is new? :Blushing:

When formatting a flash drive, make sure you open up options/advanced and select MBR instead of GUID. If you don't make that change, I think Windows will show it as FAT16 and may not be able to read anything except a 200MB partition at the beginning of the drive.

Am pretty sure the only way to actually get FAT16 though is thru the command line.
