I hear that malware for macs is not possible?

I was using facebook this morning, and then suddenly I was kicked out.
When I tried to sign back in, I was 'roadblocked' and a message came up
saying that my account has been suspended due to malware on my computer.

I have a new mac book pro. Was using safari

Any ideas?

Any chance you could have been using a Windows PC with a malware problem and used your Facebook there?

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
There are no Mac Viruses in the wild, however you are susceptible to trojans by either downloading pirated software or video codecs from Porn sites.
Since you work in that industry, this seems to be the most obvious reason.
Thus being the case, I would personally erase the Hard drive and reinstall OS X.
You can also run iAntivirus, ClamXav, etc, and see if anything shows up.
If everything is clean, then here is the FB help centre page, which you may need to check out.

There's always the possibility that your FB account has been compromised, and this is why you'd be getting that message.

Macs are virus-free, not malware-free. And it's never been said to be "impossible" that Macs could ever get a virus. There just aren't any at this point. What malware there is gets installed along with codecs and players but even then it asks you for permission to install, so if you're not 100% sure if what you're downloading is secure, don't allow it.

I once had to download a player but before I did, I did a Google search on it to see what the deal was. Other times, I've not downloaded a player after doing a search and learning it was a scam or trojan.

In the future, just be mindful of these things and you'll be fine. Just sucks if you've already been affected.

The OP claims he was getting kicked off Facebook for malware.

There is no malware for the Mac that would do this, and as you said there are no viruses.

So something else is up. My guess would be a clever pop-up ad.

Agreeing with chas_m. This could very much be some sort of facebook problem, a fake facebook page, etc. Check to make sure the address is typed in right, try using a different browser(I use firefox), and if that still doesn't work, run ClamXAV to see what is wrong!
