Transfer photos to mac from PC using PShop Elements

I want to transfer a Photoshop Elements Catalog from PC to Mac with PShop Elements 9. Is this a trivial task or do I need to resave all my photos on the PC with metadata written into them? I would naturally like to preserve as much metadata as poss and the organization of the PC software Organizer if poss. I should add that I have not yet bought the Mac software version. Perhaps there is a better solution to my problem?
