system preferences

Good Day:

Past week i upgrade to operating system version Mac Os X 10.6.4.

I don't how i loose the "system prefences" icon and when i go to

menu the option "system preferences" don't open.

Someone can help?

I would firstly download the combo update, for 10.6.4, and run that

I know you are already on 10.6.4, but sometimes the combo update can fix odd things that incremental updates might introduce.

And if that fails, drag the System Preferences icon from the Dock to the desktop and it will vanish in a poof of smoke, it is only an alias, and go into Applications and drag that icon to the Dock making a brand new alias.

But he(?) says the "menu". I take that to mean the Finder menu. Is that right? (the menu bar at the top of the screen)

If so, then the idea to install the combo updater over your current OS is good advice.

And further, I'm assuming that System Preferences is still found in the Applications folder, and perhaps the Dock as well. Is that also right?

Can you open it from either of those locations?
