Hi All,
I have a PowerBook G4 that is running OS X 10.4.1.1. Can I upgrade to a newer operating system? I know nothing about any of this, so if someone can advise or point me to a place that can answer this question, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
Kenny

G'day and welcome to the forums.

We will answer it here for you but as Nick says it is very helpful if you provide the machine specs. For a standard install of Leopard OS X.5, which will update to OS X.5.8 you require a computer with +867MHz processor. If the processor speed is less, you can install with freeware utilities which will install Leopard, but not really worth it as say a 600Mz processor would be much slower than using Tiger, and assume you mean OS X.4.11..

Yea, you can definitely go to 10.5.8. You'll pay top prie for Leopard, but it's worth it as it's almost as feature rich as 10.6 All the main components are there. How much RAM do you have out of curiosity? If 512, it will run, you may want to upgrade to 1GB if you can, though.
