I just transferred all of my material from my MacBook to my new MacBook Pro, and I'm having an issue with my iTunes.

On my MacBook, I used an external hard drive for my iTunes songs. After the transfer, my new MacBook Pro plays the songs off of the external hard drive through iTunes. However, the song names are not displayed.

Did I skip a step? Any suggestions?

You, of course, copied your iTunes library from the ~/Music/iTunes directory to the new MBP? That's where the song information would be held regardless of the location of the actual files..

When you say it's not displayed… Is the entire middle portion of the iTunes window (where each track would ordinarily be listed, blank (white)? And yet the iTunes store still shows as normal?

I went through this a couple days ago with my new MBP.

The solution: Run Software Update, and download/install the update.
