log off or sleep?

Hello total newb here, when I'm done on my iMac should I log off or put it to sleep?

You can put it to sleep and then wake it back up when you want to use it. If you want to password protect the resume, you can do that too..

sleep…. unless as Razor said you want to protect against someone getting on to your iMac.

This question cannot be answered.
Had you asked "When you're done on your iMac do you log off or put it to sleep?" then there's an answer to that. It boils down to what works for you.

You could search for those threads in which people try to "prove" that one way or the other saves energy using fancy formulas and lingo. If you've better things to do, just decide and be happy.
