Hey peoples,

I have recently purchased a Mac book Pro off a friend who owned it for about 6 months. He sold it to me but does not have the original disc so I don't know how to format it.
Is there anyway I can format the hard drive so I can start fresh on the mac?

Thanks a lot.

Call Apple and request a set of replacement discs. This will be your cheapest route.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
You can't use a friends discs, but as bobtomay mentioned, you can call Apple for replacement discs, or get the latest retail version of Snow Leopard as long as it's later than the version your Mac shipped with.
ie If your Mac shipped with 10.6.3, 10.6.0-10.6.2 won't work.
I don't know if updated retail versions of SL have been released, so I will leave that for another MF member to clarify.

Call Apple. You need those discs. With a machine still under it's 12 mth warranty, it's likely you'll get them for $20 and we've had members report getting them for free. Those discs have not only OS X but the current iLife suite also.
