MiniDisplay to VGA Question!

Don't use the VGA input on a monitor if that monitor has a DVI connector. And as far as I know, all new monitors being sold have a DVI connector.
So to answer your question: Buy an adapter for your MBP (MiniDisplay to DVI). And yes, it will go to 1920 x 1080.

That's fine then. Use the VGA input if it works to your satisfaction. BTW, an adapter for DVI is not expensive - you don't have to purchase it from Apple, and it will give you the best picture and resolution.
