Using Migration Assistant, I just transferred all my files from an old PowerBook G4 to my MacBook Pro. They are now saved on my MacBook Pro hard drive under a different user, but when I try to open the folders I do not have permission to see their contents.

Thanks for any advice.

well something did not migrate correctly if you are using the same user. you can over ride the permissions but there will be more work to it .. chose the folder or file ctrl click Get Info at the bottom unlock the lock with your user name and password ...

Click the + symbol add your current user them mark as read & write

if its a folder make sure you click on the gear at the bottom will bring a context box up and chose apply to all enclosed .. or something like that .. don't have it right in front of me right now...

Other wise .. you may have to start all over again with the install and migration... did you use the same user name when setting up the Mac before using the migration asst?
