Snow Leopard over Leopard

I am just wanting to know if I can safely upgrade to Snow Leopard when Leopard 10.5.8 is my current OS. I have the Snow Leopard disc on my desk now. Any advice is appreciated. Can I just install or are there probable difficulties to think about before hand.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
There should be no problems, but it is always wise to make a latest backup of your machine in it's current state before making such changes.
You should always keep current backups anyway :)

Thanks, I can't afford to lose clients photographs so I use an on line back up service for the macpro.
