Reading SD cards with PC-Card reader...what a HOG?!?!?!

Tried using a SD-memory PC-Card adapter on my Ultimate 15" last night and it brought the whole system down to a crawl? The system was practically unusable.

Anyone experience this too?

yep. i use a pc-card reader for my cf cards. it sucks when you're working with 1gb.

i have an XD picture card reader and it doesn't affect my computer speeds at all. maybe you have an older card.

Reformat the card with the PC you intend to use. After i got a 512mb SD i tried to use it with my PC, it worked great with my PocketPC and my camera, but it <insert here some sort of curse> my PC. After i reformated it in WinXP it worked great with everything, including my iBook.
