Hi Everyone...

Just got hold of my new camera today a Casio Exilim EX-Z750 . Its a cracking camera upgrade on my EX-M20 which worked fine on my G4 Imac.

Here's the prob.. I have recently bought a Powerbook 15" loaded with Tiger .. now upgraded to 10.4.2.. and the MPEG4's / Quicktime logo'd avi's that appear when I download the files will not play at all on Quicktime 7 Pro..

I am so annoyed as one of the main reasons I got the camera was because of the better quality 640 x 480 video resolution. I have read in places about some incompatibility of AVI files and quicktime on Macs, but my old ex-m20 which captured 320 x 240 played these video files fine with sound.

Is there anything I can do to sort this out?

Would appreciate some help with this..

Thanks

I would contact the camera maker's tech support. Maybe they have a driver/software patch.

Your Mac's Specs
20" iMac C2D 2.16ghz, 13" MacBook 2.0ghz, 60gb iPod vid, 1gb nano
download divx (www.divx.com , its free) it will install a bunch of codecs which you probably had installed before tiger that will let you play avi and mpeg

Also try this

in quicktime go to QuickTime Preferences - > Advanced and click MIME Settings make sure that under video that AVI is checked and that mpeg is checked as well

....this is amazing....! ffmpegX...!

Thanks for all your help everyone...

Ended up doing some trawling... cast the net out wide and far and landed this beaut piece of shareware.... its an almost anything in anything out bundle of joy... Its ace...its fixed my prob with the avi's not playin on the me mac... but has iced the cherry by giving me the option to turn the clip into almost anything I could want. Its got basic aspect ratio conversion in it too and image adjustment. Thanks Major...!

Gonna test it a bit more ... but this Major chap should get a medal.

Cheers
