Wifi Off and Notifications On?

Just a quick question, I have 3G ipod touch and wanted to know if I turn off wifi and turn on notifications from the settings menu, will I still get the notifications? Will this help me not drain my battery as much? Does having notifications on drain it faster? Thanks in advance!

It depends on the notification type as well as the application. If the application requires internet, and the notifications for the app come off the internet- the wifi will need to be on. But if the app is like Calendar- requiring no internet to function, the wifi can be off or on regardless.
