iMovie 09 Settings...? Please Help!

Hi everyone,
I'm using iMovie 09 and am having some trouble with the exporting.
Whenever I export to youtube everything works great and I can then download the file once it is processed by youtube and is great quality.

When i export the movie and save as an mp4 (same format that I download from youtube) the file is about 3 times the size. If i try and decrease the quality to around the same size as the youtube file it has poor playback quality.

Is someone able to help me with this matter and tell me what the default settings should be for exporting?

I have included a screenshot of my current settings.

There are no default settings unless you use automatic for the data rate of the video.

That 256kbit/sec will give you poor quality. Quadruple it and you should see big improvements. The limit you can compress something and get good results will vary by source material. Fast paced or complicated scenes will be better served with less compression (higher data rates) as opposed to a less complicated scene such as a talking head shot with a simple background (Charlie Rose show).
