Strange grid/pattern over icons and mouse

All of a sudden today a sort of grid pattern appeared over all of the desktop icons and the mouse cursor. The problem persists after I reboot, and none of the settings seem to have any effect on it either. I have attached a picture.

I am not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.

I would guess that would be a graphics card issue. I'd be calling Apple and taking it in to let them check it out.


You could try running the Apple Hardware Test.

I just had the same thing happen-blue & yellow grid lines everywhere.(PPC Mac G5 dual 2.0,
OSX 10.5.8)

Do you or anybody know what the remedy is?

I also have the blue grid and yellow too depending on backround color.(PPC G5 dual 2.0)
