It used to be more like 3Mbit/256Kbit

That test will have no problem working if you are working on wireless.

Well I tried the german mirror and it was fairly accurate for me: I got between 1,2 and 1,7Mb ...

My connection is officially a 2,0Mb dsl line, so that seems about right.

Actually quite cool: I signed up for a 1,5 Mb connection and we were all recently upgraded to 2,0 for free! :)

Which really irritates me because that is exactly the same as what I got before "upgrading" to 3.0/768 DSL.

You should see my connection up at school in my comp sci department, gigabit ethernet and a ridiculously fast connection

4211/244 - Cable. I've seen it as high as 4800 down. I wish my ISP offered higher upload speeds for a realistic price :).
