Hi there,

I've been searching around the posts about VNC, but can´t find any help. So please, if there is any older post that covers this issue, just tell me where to go!;D

So, the thing is, I have a PC with RealVNC running, and I have a Macbook with VNC viewer.

I want to acces my PC from my MAC, but can't get it!

Configuration is default on VNC (PC), port 5900, with password.

My PC is behind a company firewall, so you will obviously think that I'm crazy to attempt this, BUT, I also have VNC on my Blackberry, which CONNECTS without any problem to my PC!! I just enter IP and pssw and voila!

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Was your BB setup by your IT department? If so they probably configured your VNC on your BB to bypass the firewall somehow. Your best bet is to talk to your IT department to do the same thing for your Mac.

VNC is unencrypted by default - so it is very bad to try to run it over the internet without proper setup. Usually you run VNC through SSH so at least your session is encrypted.

First of all..try pinging your work computer from your Mac (presumably on your home network) and you'll find that you cannot successfully ping (open terminal and type 'ping <ip address>')..so since you can't actually access the machine, nothing that's running on the machine will be accessible either.

The RIGHT way of doing this is to use a VPN software to VPN into your work network and then use VNC to connect to your machine..

You could also try logmein or teamviewer.

So, I saved the VPN profiles on my usb.

Imported them to my MAC VPN software.

VPN Connection....... OK!

Tomorrow will try to connect with RealVNC Viewer.

So, final UPDATE,

I was able to connect to VPN without a problem.

There was no way that VNC connect to my PC laptop at the office.

So, I downloaded Remote Desktop Connection 2 (mactopia), and voila! Just typed my PC static (internal) IP and that was it.

Very useful, no delays, 100% functional.

Hope this works for someone else.

Cheers!
