will this hard drive work/fit in my imac 20"

i bought it january last year. i think it needs a new hard drive because. whenever i switch it on it keeps coming up with a flashing folder with a question mark. it takes lots of turning off and on to get it to start and whenever i put the install disk in to use disk repair it does not list my hard drive.?

Yes, it will work. Take note that replacing a hard drive in an iMac is a moderately difficult task as the entire display panel must first be removed. I suggest before you attempt it, go to iFixit: The free repair manual and take a look at the entire procedure. They also sell specialized tools that you will need to do the swap.
