1st off, like others here, I have been a PC guy for SEVERAL YEARS. Several co-works and friends have jumped ship months ago and I always said I wouldn't follow. Well, last week my home desktop, which I really liked (HP Media), decided to give up after 5 years of service. Apparently the mother board died.
Anyhow, I went to the Apple store and played around with the new iMac for a bit and ended up leaving. I then went to the local Best Buy to take a look at the new All-in-One HP's. After talking with the sales associate for about 45 minutes he talked me into the 21.5 iMac w/ 1TB HD, Apple TV,Time Capsule, Magic Pad and iWorks.
I have it setup, well sorta, but my internet speed has slowed down drastically. Here is what I have had hooked up:
1 x iMac - wired
2 x HP Desktops (the kids) - 1 wireless and 1 wired
1 x Apple TV - Wireless
1 x Time Capsule
1 x Wii - Wireless
1 x PS3 - Wireless
1 x HP Laptop - wireless
1 x HP Deskjet printer - wired
1 x HP Photo Printer - wired
My DSL speed with Verizon is the 3 mbps plan and has always been right there in the 2.5-3.05 range. I can barely get 1 mbps now. I have the Verizon wireless modem/router and have shut off the wireless on it and only using it to plug in the printers.
If I unplug everything and run the ethernet cable directly from Verizon model/router to the iMac the speed is right back at the 3 mbps range.
The only thing that has changed in my setup is the time capsule and the apple tv. Can they be drawing the speed down somehow?
Sorry for the long post, but any feedback would be great!
