iTouch 3rd g bluetooth woes

I understand that in ios4 you can connect a bluetooth keyboard. I have the apple bluetooth keyboard, but it won't connect. In fact, nothing will. I have several bluetooth devices but none will show up. When I turn on bluetooth it just keeps saying "searching". I've tried disconnecting the keyboard from my imac as well as turning the imac off and turning the bluetooth on the mac off. Nothing works :(

The bluetooth keyboard connectivity dates back to iOS 3.

Make sure the keyboard is in discover mode.

iOS 3 and iOS 4 bluetooth devices include:

-keyboards
-headphones

It does NOT support bluetooth headsets such as those for cellular phones.
