I know there's a light sensor on my MacBook Pro that controls the brightness of the screen and the backlit keyboard. However, where is it? Is it in the same aperture as the camera? Elsewhere? Thanks in advance.

Its next to the web cam just shine a light at it and watch the screen get brighter.

It's just to the left of the iSight cam seemingly right where the green light is that signals that the camera is on. Place your finger over where the green light is to the left of the iSight and your screen will darken. May I ask why you are wondering this?

Yes, you may ask. My daughter uses the laptop from time to time and we've had hackers hack into computers around here and somehow activate their webcam without the user knowing it and without activating the "on" light. A couple of them have been caught but there are quite a few more, I'm sure. I just want to make sure. I was going to put a piece of black electrical tape over the lens like some people but I don't want to block the sensor that affects the screen and backlit keyboard brightness. Just trying to be safe.

Fair enough. I think if you can manage cutting the piece of tape into a small circle or even a square to cover only the lens of the iSight, you'll be fine on the light sensor not being covered.

P.S. - What a creeper that guy is turning on the cams huh?
