Here's the stat:

pmg5 dc 2.0 2gb 160gb sd gf6600 max ram (on the side)

I think this one can hold 2gb dimms, but I'm not sure? Please advise, thanks!

Also, these hold ddr2 pc2-4200 or pc2-5300? Thanks!!

Does your Powermac G5 have 4 or 8 DIMM slots....and is it a 2.0ghz "dual processor" or "dual core"? There were both types.

Thanks for the info.

Yes your computer can use 2 gigabyte dimms. Your computer has a max ram of 16 gig...so with 8 ram slots... 2 gig dimms x 8 slots = 16 gigabyte ram.

Your computer uses PC-4200 ram (no Powermac G5 used PC-5300). Also I verified...your Powermac G5 is a Dual-Core model (versus a dual processor).

Hope this helps,

Also, any ram on ebay that you can link me to? Straight PC4200 (no ddr2?)

If you're thinking of buying used ram on e-Bay...I would be 100% sure it's compatible with Macintosh computers...other wise I would buy new ram from one of these guys:

OWC
Crucial

As far as value for the computer...give this site a try:

Mac2Sell

It's a "ballpark" figure...could sell for more or less on e-Bay or CL.

Hope this helps,

4GB Matched Pair (2GB modules x 2) PC4... (OWC42DDR2PAIR4G) at OWC

As Nick advised go to OWC who are Mac specialists and are about the cheapest about. Assuming the machine is a late 2005 Dual Core 2, 2.3 or 2.5GHz using PC4200 modules, check the link out. If you are buying memory elsewhere make sure you get Mac compatible memory which is low density. be aware PC ram is cheaper, high density memopry which will either not boot or fail after some minutes work.

I think that you're going down the wrong path if you looking for these sort of details when sourcing ram for your computer(s).

Just get PC-4200 ram guaranteed to work with a Macintosh from the guys I linked above...(the whole "serials" thing is just going to give you a headache).:(

So pc2-4200 wouldn't work and high-density wouldn't work. Thanks again!!
