Macbook Freeze up

My Mac book pro is only 9 months old but it's just completely frozen up today. I've tried force quit etc but basically the cursor does nothing . I had a spinning multi-coloured wheel before it froze up. At the time I was accessing a webpage and doing nothing abnormal.I can't even shut it down! Any advice would be most welcome. I guess it's a trip down to the apple store tomorrow to book a genius!

Sounds like the hard drive is going bad.
