• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have a DVD player that says it plays DVD-Rs and I am trying to burn .avi files onto the DVD-R to play on the DVD player so I can view them on my larger TV.

I've downloaded Burn and put a .mov file on the list, then burnt a DVD. When I try to play it in my DVD player, it says "No image data, No video data." My TV is a 37" Vizio E370VL.

I have not really used Burn that much especially for what you are trying to do, but are you sure Burn is first converting the AVI to a DVD format with VIDEO_TS folder then burning or just burning the stock AVI to the DVD?

I am a Roxio Toast user and if DVD is selected, the AVI is first converted than the DVD is burned. The convert process can take quite a while BTW.
