Hey, I'm just trying to be a good boyfriend and help my girlfriend out. She's moving to Pascadena to go to Art Center for college, and she was looking at buying a MacBook Pro. We went to the store and of course the person helping us was trying to up-sale every little thing he could throw in, but I was wondering if a MacBook pro with just the minimum 4 G's of Ram would be fine for an art student who would be using the adobe art programs on her laptop to their fullest extent. But I was wondering if it would be worth the $400 to upgrade to 8 G's of ram. My first thought was, well you should always go for the upgraded version because it means it will last that much longer, but for someone who's on a very tight budget what would you recommend? Buy the fastest processor speed you can afford. You can't upgrade the CPU (processor) or the GPU (graphic card) on a MBP.
The RAM and HDD space you can always upgrade yourself for a fraction of what Apple charges.
4GB is enough to run the Adobe Suite.
