I know this question has been asked before, but just confirming - can the mini mid-2007 only support a max of 3GB RAM? What happens if it were to be fitted with two 2GB RAM slots. Does it use 2GB from one and 1GB from the other or does it only recognise the one 2GB?

I am currently running 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo on Mac OS X. Is it possible to use the different types of RAM specs apart from increase in GBs itself? Example - DDR3 or one with 1066MHz?

It won't even boot if you put 2 2gb chips in. The max is 3gb. You can't put DDR3 in your mini. You can install higher speed DDR2, but it will only run at 667Mhz, as all dual channel ram runs at the speed of the slowest chip in the series.

Oh, thats a bummer! So a 2 n 1 it is. What about using different MHz than what its on now? And changing to a DDR3?

Thanks. So what if I were to swap both the current RAM chips to a 2GB and 1GB 1066MHz? Will it then run on 1066MHz? Is it going to be a noticeable difference in multi-tasking performance - as compared to just having a 2GB and 1GB both running at 667MHz?

It can't run at 1066Mhz, because the system bus is 667Mhz. You can put 1066 chips in, but it will drop down to 667Mhz because of the bus speed. If you are looking for more speed, your only option is upgrading to the early 2009 model. It can handle 8gb of 1066Mhz DDR3.

Gotcha! Thanks mate. Probably best sticking around for when they launch one with the iCore processors. Might be a while thought I've been told!
