Flip Camcorders

Was given a Flip ultraHD, have a pre Intel iBook G4, any way I can use it?

The Flip UltraHD has a USB output. You should be able to attach it to your iBook USB connector. What exactly are you trying to do with the Flip?

want to take and view video, but it says I must have an iBook with an Intel chip, mine is older, has an IBM chip. Connecting it is not problem.

So you DON'T have an Intel as you said you did in the first post. We assumed you wrote "iBook" meaning "MacBook" because there's no such thing as an Intel iBook.

What you have is a PPC iBook G4, and no that won't work with the Flip. As you've discovered. The only solution I can offer is to get an Intel Mac of some sort.

In my first post I said I had a "pre Intel iBook", not realizing there was no such thing as an 'Intel iBook'. I am way behind the times. I just bought this G4 used for $350 since my trusty orange and white "clam shell" iBook just died.
Thanks for the help. I was hoping there was some simple/cheap way around the problem. Guess I need to come up with $1,000 and get up to date.

Buy a cheap netbook if you can't afford a new MacBook right now. Netbooks have come down in price and some are even sporting the basic version of Windows 7. Your Flip will work fine with one of them.

You are correct -- I misread the initial post. My apologies.

No need to spend quite that much, though of course that's not a bad idea if you can.

Refurbs Intel MacBooks can run quite a bit less from Apple, and used ones are cheaper still. Even the 2007 model BlackBook I am using now works perfectly with it, and I see those on sale used all the time for under $700, sometimes quite a bit cheaper.
