Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my scratch disk (for video editing) and I've seen a couple different things that might work for me.
The first is the G-Technology product line from Hitachi. Specifically the G-Drive (1TB or possibly 2TB). According to other video editing folks, this is a great drive for video editing b/c its fast and what not. However, if you looks closer at the specs, its basically just a 7200rpm eSATA 32MB cache HDD wrapped in a nice grey aluminum housing.
G-TECHNOLOGY, Product Line - External, Portable and Desktop Hard Drives Designed for the Mac!
The questions is, if I don't care that the drive is external, can't I just get a similar spec'd internal HDD (a-la Seagate Barracuda XT even larger cache) and throw it in my Mac Pro cabinet for quite a bit less???
Internal Storage | Barracuda | Momentus | Seagate
If anyone has any thoughts or opinions on this I'd love to hear them.
Thanks!
