Help! QuickTime Player window missing

iMac, 27inch, 2017, OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 (14D127a)
When I try to play a .AVI movie using QuickTime Player 10 under Snow Leopard the title bar shows on the screen but the actual movie doesn't.

Can anyone help me please
