Not sure whether sick is good or bad.

Download it and try it. It is free. I use it when I need a torrent.

You could have had it installed 20 minutes ago and been checking it out for yourself. You're the one that has to like it after all.

For the small amount of Torrenting I do Vuze is my favorite.

Oh and Bob, Sick in this case means good! :D

Vuze has too much garbage attached to it and the GUI is also far too messy which is totally unnecessary. It's also listed as an app which doesn't follow many of the required protocols for certain torrent sites and will cause the user (you in this case) to be blocked from those servers.

Transmission is MUCH better and MUCH easier to configure. It also has a MUCH smaller footprint.

I'm with you on that one. I don't torrent much (I only get Linux distros through BT and only if I have to) but I do have experience with Vuze and have the same opinion you do. It's slow and for what it should be (a torrent program), it has way too much clutter. That was a while ago mind you but from the sounds of it, it hasn't changed much.

Van, Transmission here with any router I own and every port open is slower on my DSL on the same torrent then when using Vuse. That is why I use Vuse. I do know how to set up a router and unblock ports for those other than VAN who want to say that I don't. Transmission here for some reason does not get along with my DSL.

I use Vuse mostly for OS Distro torrents like Van.

Vuse used to drag on the iMac G5 iSight. A new version came out and it's more than snappy enough for the little I use it.

Hmm, I can't explain your issue. Do they use the same port or different ones? What happens if you change the port settings in Transmission to match those of Vuze? Or, perhaps the most important question, are you happy enough with Vuze? ;)

It's a strange issue. Tried it all. To me for the little I use torrent in the first place, not worth the fuss. Vuse is not that slow interface wise on my iMac G5 iSight so it does the job I need. Like I said, the ports are open for both. 10 different routers and 2 with LINUX so it can't be that! :D

Am I happy with Vuse? Yep! :D

Just to add some fun to this thread, I am the reverse, I like all the buttons and clutter in Vuse but yet I hate Norton other cluttered applications! :D

And to Doug, since you hate iTunes and other applications I love, I was not at all shocked you did not like Vuse! :D Grin

Been using Vuze way back when it was still called Azures. I really liked it but it kind of lag my system down a bit. This is on Windows though. >_>"

For Mac I like things that are simple and streamline. Transmission does this and I'm happy with it.

Just test them all out and find which one you like the best. Don't be a sheep and just follow what everyone else says. One thing might work for someone else but it might not work for you.

Vuze all the way for me. I can't get on with Transmission, it doesn't like my network for some reason. Vuze used to take a lot of processor power, but that is long since fixed and it's a very good client with some great features now.
If you have a Mac with a decent amount of RAM (1GB here) then it's fine.

Lol, I think Limewire has gone to the software graveyard by now!

Not entirely, but generally there are no viruses and maybe one trojan for Mac. The greater majority of us here don't have anti-virus running.
It's more down to what you are downloading and from where, not the programs themselves.

Absolutely. Don't download anything you know you shouldn't and if possible, download content from the maker/creator.
