Installing OSX on a G4 500??

Friend of mine just gave me this G4 500 and I am having some issues installing OSX on it? When I put the OSX CD in the drive it is telling me that "this CD is not readable by this computer." I am already running OS 9.2.2 fresh install and I would like to just run OSX if that is possible. Any help is much appreciated!

Yeah, I'm interested in knowing. Where you using CD-R's? I find that sometimes my Mac, just after burning, spits a message out like that. I can still see it, and use it. It just spits that message out. Obviously if your booting from it, it won't let you go any further. If that makes sense :)
