Hey guys..

So im running 10.6.2 or 3 cant remember which, but i want to do a fresh install, and by that i mean a FRESH install.

I have reinstalled the OS before, and still had all my files etc, but these days, i think i have accumulated a ridiculous amount of crud on my mac, and i want to literally start afresh as if i bought a brand new mac. Im not really sure how, and i was hoping ye could help me?

The only problem is, my 10.6 OS is from the update CD, not the full package, will that cause problems?

What makes you think you've accumulated a "ridiculous amount of crud"? OS X isn't subject to "crud accumulation" like Windows is. Typically, using Onyx or Ice Clean once in a while to run various maintenance tasks is all you need to do. Unless you are having actual problems of some sort (most of which are easily solved anyway without a reinstall), then reinstalling OS X is a humongous waste of time.

If you are determined to do so, then knock yourself out. The update DVD installs just like any other copy. It doesn't look for an old version or anything like that. The only difference… literally… is the price. (EDIT: Ok ok… iirc the full-priced version does come with iLife, but the OS and its installation is identical).
