I'll be getting a Droid X tomorrow, and I'm interested in using it to give my iMac an internet connection.

To anyone who has done this already, is it as straight forward as it seems? I read that for wireless tethering it's $20/month for 2GB, but for wired tethering it's unlimited GBs (this is Verizon). I'll happily pay $20/month over the $115/month I'm paying for cable (that I don't watch) plus internet. How comparable are the speeds to a regular high speed modem v.s. a wired tether?

Thanks for any info.

As far as I'm aware, the Droid X is capable of 4G speeds which is meant to be 10x (or so i've heard) faster than 3G. So in comparison, if you are using a 4G capable network, the speeds would be favourable.
