early 08 macbook screen replacement problem

Just tried replacing the screen on my white early 2008 macbook and now the backlight wont work...

The screen was working fine before I took it apart, the only problem was a horizontal line that was due to a defective lcd display. Now when a light is flashed on the screen you can see things going on as it boots, but there is no backlight. I tried reinstalling the old screen and am having the same problems...any ideas?

Take it apart again and check the cabling that goes thru the hinge area. Make sure there aren't any connectors that may have been pulled loose or cables that are broken. Check the power cable from the inverter to the backlight.

It's also possible that your replacement display backlight is defective.

Thanks....I've had it apart 3 times checking everything to no avail. I ended up putting the stock one back in and it is working again, I'm guessing it's the display. Now I have to contact LG because the dealer on amazon I bought it though will only cover it for 30 days...wish me luck.

Sorry to hear that. It's probably either a defective display backlight or the display they sent is not the right one. Happens all the time. Next time buy your parts from these guys: iFixit: The free repair manual They're Mac specialists and have great step by step do it yourself tutorials.
